TLC Family Camp and First English Course Celebration

Last weekend we had the opportunity to attend the 1st Annual TLC Family Camp.  The camp was located in the country south of Chiang Mai city.  The location was breathtaking and a great representation of God's beautiful creation.  During Family Camp we were able to get to know more of the people who attend TLC and develop deeper relationships with them.  At the camp we also helped babysit as well as Julie lead a morning worship session.  We came home from Family Camp exhausted, but filled with joy after experiencing the wonderful ways God is working through the people at TLC.

On Friday we celebrated the end of our first English Course at TLC.  We can't believe how quickly time passes!  It seemed like we had just begun the course.  We were blessed with amazing students and opportunities to build relationships with them.  Many of our students are students at Chaing Mai University. So, for the next four weeks we will not see many of them since they will be studying for exams and then many will go home for their two week break.  Please keep these students in your prayers since exams are an extremely stressful time for them.  Fortunately, many of the students are interested in studying English with us again when they return from their break.

To celebrate the end of the course we had a ceremony and party.  Each student received a certificate to recognize their completion of the course.  We also created a slideshow of pictures and memories during the course.  Our favorite memories were when the students gave us a tour of Wat Umong and our Mexican Feista.  These events really helped us to get to know our students more.  To continue to develop relationships with our students we have planned Saturday events for the next four weeks for those students who will be available.

This weekend we went to the Chiang Mai Zoo with five of our students.  We were so happy they were able to come and we had a wonderful time exploring the zoo.  Our favorite part of the trip was that we were able to feed an elephant some sugar cane as well as get a picture with the elephant.  Never had we been that close to an elephant before.  The trip was hot and we were tired by the time the zoo closed, but the fun memories we have of our trip are worth it.

For the next four weeks we are praying that we can still have English classes with students who do not attend CMU.  There have been some people that have inquired about classes who we are hoping we will be able to teach.  For the next four weeks we are also planning to help with the preparation of a TLC English Course curriculum.

We will continue to keep you updated on our English courses and events.  We are very excited about what lies ahead!

Some prayer requests we have are:

• As we develop relationships with our students, there will be opportunties where we will be able to share about our faith and the gospel.
• The students who attend CMU will experience peace and focus as they study for their exams.
• More students will enroll to attend the TLC English course during the next two four week sessions.
• We will continue to seek God everyday and grow closer to Him.
